411God Problems FAQ
1. I’ve already signed up for 411God. Why did I get a message telling me to sign up again?
a. We have upgraded our account management services. 411God users will now be able to access their account settings and easily make changes. Because we now require 411God users to create an account (with a user name and password), all existing members will need to sign up again.
2. What will happen if I don’t create a new account?
a. All 411God users who signed up for 411God prior to Monday, January 19, 2009 will need to create a new 411God account. This sign-up period will last all week until Friday, January 23, 2009.
b. 411God users who have not signed up with a new 411God account by this time will be erased from our database. Therefore, it is imperative that you create your new account right away and not procrastinate!
c. Have you created your account yet?
d. How about now?
e. Now?
f. Good!
3. Why did I receive two emails today?
a. This is probably because you were an existing 411God user who created a new account this month. During this transition period, we are actually maintaining two lists of 411God users. And because we have to manually remove people from the old list when they join the new list (create their new account), it’s possible we didn’t take your name off the old list before the next day’s messages went out. If it happens again, let us know, either by using the Contact Us page, or by replying to the email. We’ll look into it right away.
4. Help! Why am I no longer receiving 411God calls?
a. During the week of January 19 – 23, 2009, 411God transitioned to a new account management system. As a result, existing 411God users were required to create a new 411God account. Those who did not create a new account during that week were erased from our database.
b. If you did create a new 411God account (thanks!), look below for other possible solutions.
5. Help! Why am I no longer receiving 411God text messages?
a. As of January 19, 2009, 411God will no longer be sending out daily text messages to 411God users. As such, we have also removed the option from all sign-up pages.
b. Why? Cost was definitely a big factor. Compared to the number of 411God users receiving voice calls and email, those receiving text messages was relatively small.
c. We are still interested in using text messaging in the future, and are actively exploring new ways of effectively using this technology.
d. In other words: no txt 4 now l8r tho. kthx bye
6. Why can’t I sign up to receive text messages now?
a. As of January 19, 2009, 411God will no longer be sending out daily text messages to 411God users. As such, we have also removed the option from all sign-up pages.
7. I’m under 13, why can’t I sign up?
a. Sorry. If you are under the age of 13, we can not allow you to sign up for 411GOD. (See our Privacy Policy for more information.) We do not collect and keep any personal information online from you unless you are 13 or older
b. The Center for Bible Engagement, Back to the Bible and 411GOD are committed to complying fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). We urge children over the age of 13 to check with their parents before entering information on any Web site and we urge parents to discuss with their children restrictions regarding the online release of personal information to anyone they don’t know. We do not knowingly collect and keep personal information online from children under the age of 13. By completing our signup form, you are attesting to being over the age of 13 and have given us permission to communicate with you, until you specifically request otherwise."
8. Why do my 411God voicemail messages start “in progress”?
a. Each cell phone provider sets up their voicemail systems differently. Because 411God works with so many different cell service providers, and because each provider sets up their voicemail system different, it is impossible to ensure that each and every voicemail starts exactly at the beginning of the 411God message.
b. To hear the entire message: Answer the call when it comes—don’t let it go to voicemail; if you receive the daily email, click on the link provided; visit the 411God archives; Facebook users can add the 411God application to their profile, or visit the 411God page on Facebook.
c. If this problem persists, let us know. Visit the Contact Us page, or call Customer Service at 800-723-1287.
9. Why didn’t I get a 411God message today?
a. See above for information regarding account management service changes that took place in January of 2009.
b. Because 411God distributes its daily message across so many cell service providers, call availability is susceptible to service outages and other cell network problems. This is beyond our control.
c. To hear any 411God message you may have missed: click on the link provided in the daily email; visit the 411God archives; Facebook users can add the 411God application to their profile; or visit the 411God Page on Facebook.
10. Why is my call coming at the wrong time?
a. On the signup page, all times given are Eastern Time Zone. 411God users in other times zones should adjust the desired time of their 411God call accordingly. For example, 411God users who live in California and wish to receive their call at 5:00 pm should schedule their call for 8:00 pm.
b. We know this isn’t ideal. We hope to change it in the future.
c. Because we send out thousands of calls each day, your call may arrive up to 15 minutes after the hour you choose. Please let us know if it takes us longer.
d. Also, if have picked a “high volume” time (8:00 am, for instance) you may consider switching your call time to a different hour.
11. Why is there silence sometimes when I answer my 411God call?
a. The messaging system 411God uses to distribute its daily calls is programmed to begin playback after an audible cue.
b. In other words, say “hello?” when you answer.
c. Other responses we like include, “Begin transmission,” and “Speak Lord, Your child is listening.”
12. I signed up for the 411God e-mails. Why am I not receiving them?
a. You may need to check your spam filters and add 411God to your approved senders list.
b. Depending on when you signed up, your first email will either come tomorrow, or the day after.
13. I live outside of the United States, can I still receive the 411God calls?
a. 411God calls are only available to those living in the United States, Canada, and Jamaica.
b. All 411God messages are available online at 411God.net. Facebook users may add the 411God application to their profile, or visit the 411God page on Facebook.
c. If you live internationally and would like to receive 411God emails, contact our Customer Service Line at 1-800-723-1287 during normal business hours. Or let us know via the Contact Us page.
d. This is more of a technical limitation than a lack of desire. Many countries do not use a 10-digit phone number like in the US. Besides that, the cost of making so many international calls on a daily basis would quickly become prohibitive.
14. I signed up by calling Customer Service because I didn’t have access to the Internet. Now that I do have Internet, can I access my account online?
a. Yes. The customer service representative you spoke to should have given you a user name and password when you talked to them. You may use those to log in to your account.
b. You did keep your user name and password right?
c. Right?
d. Call Customer Service at 800-723-1287 for help in accessing your account.
15. Help! I forgot my password!
a. That’s not a question!
b. On the login page, click on “Forgot Password?” On the next screen, enter your email address, and we’ll send you a new password.
c. If all else fails, call Customer Service at 800-723-1287 and we will help you create a new password.
d. Oh, and same deal if you forgot your user name too. Call us at 800-723-1287 and we’ll help you get back into your account.
16. Can I sign up online if I don’t have an email account?
a. Sign up online? No. Sign up by calling Customer Service? Yes!
b. The number is 800-723-1287.
c. If you don’t have an email account, there are many free email services available online.
17. What do I do if I can’t read the words in the reCAPTCHA box?
a. Click on the refresh button in the box and two new words will appear.
18. What is the purpose of the reCAPTCHA box on the sign up page?
a. The reCAPTCHA box is necessary to prevent automatic web processes from filling out the form and to confirm that you are, indeed, human.
